Jack Slater is Powsowdie House's 'poet in residence'. He has been writing for many years and his poetry covers a variety of styles and themes. All of Jack's poetry is intended for performance as much as for the page.
This includes Mary's Tale, a set of eight poems 'with a Yorkshire accent' written especially for Powsowdie House's Carol Rochnia to perform, retelling a well known story in the voice of a South Yorkshire - rather than Galileean - lass. These poems are available in book form, together with a CD of Carol's readings, from Powsowdie Arts.
Jack and Carol give poetry readings. If you would like to arrange one, enquiries are always welcome; just drop us an email here at Powsowdie House.
They are also regulars contributors at the Poetry Fireside Hour at the Monkey at Thurgoland.
